Originally inspired by Davis' fascination with Spanish folk music and the country's cultural traditions, Sketches of Spain drew together influences including Joaquín Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, flamenco and religious processions to create a landmark recording that expanded the possibilities of jazz.
Now, one of Europe's leading voices in electro-jazz, Erik Truffaz joins forces with acclaimed saxophonist and flamenco singer Antonio Lizana to revisit this masterpiece. Respecting the spirit of the original while bringing their own distinctive musical language, New Sketches of Spain offers a fresh perspective on a work whose influence continues to resonate more than six decades later.
